Time Marches On

Bertie started school today, it doesn't seem like five minutes since the day he was born bringing so much joy into our lives.  I spoke to him before he went into school he was so excited and so grown up telling me he would phone me when he came from school as he didn't want to be late.  What a Prince he is.  Amie, his Mum was a little emotional bless her I hope she manages to keep it together until she gets him in there.  It brought back so many happy memories of her starting school and how grown up she suddenly looked dressed in her navy school uniform.  Lovely memories!  Time marches on, another generation going through the same emotional turmoil of letting your child go.

Mum and I had a stroll around the car boot sale at Skegness stadium yesterday we were on the look out for vegetables which as a general rule are in abundance.  Not this week we came home with a lot of things but not the vegetables we actually went for.  The car boot season is slowly coming to an end so the ones in the week are finishing, consequently there were a lot of bargains to be had.  I must admit to bagging a bargain or two myself.

50p bought a whole load of parcel labels to be made into gift tags.

I then managed to get some stamps for 80p, 20p per item.  I was really impressed with the wooden stamp and have plans for it in my head already.

£2 bought a job lot of books and 3 boxes of crochet cotton, I was thrilled to be able to add to my book collection.

We have got up to a very wet and misty morning, so my plans for painting the fences are to be put on hold for a little while.  It is amazing how quickly the weather has changed, we have had glorious sunshine for the past couple of days.  Still I have plenty of indoor jobs and craft projects to keep me occupied.    What are you working on at the moment?

See you soon

  2. Lots to say, Firstly I hope Bertie loves school. I start my family learning sessions today to help families make the transition to school for parents. I love doing this course for parents for 10 weeks. Next up what a load of great bargains. I bought a sewing themed stamp set for 99p and have had endless use out of it to make gift tags and birthday cards for my crafty friends as well has home sewn tags for my makes. Good to see you blogging again. Jo x

  3. What brilliant bargains, things you'll get lots of use out of too. Hope today goes well for Bertie and that Amie didn't get through too many tissues, I was the same when my two went off to school and I think I'll be the same again next week when we drop Eleanor at uni.

Lovely bargains from the car boot. Love the cottons even though I couldn't crochet with them to save my life.
A lovely cool start here this morning but now I am all hot and bothered.
Currently I am working on absolutely nothing as my mojo has gone for a hike again....a combination of worrying about hubby and the hot weather which doen't inspire to do any form of crafting-x-

  9. My grandson went one group farer he will be 6 in November. In Holland the school system is different, they don't consider the age but more the intellectual capacity of the child. So if you can already read and are in advance on the other children then you go into another group.

  10. You got some good bargains. As an experienced crafter you know what to look for such as the labels that will be decorated and used as gift tags. That's a good idea! My assistant teacher daughter is settling in her school's reception children this week, one or two each day. By now you'll have had that conversation with Bertie and I'm sure he will have had lots to tell you about his day.

  22. I hope school is a good experience for Bertie. They seem so vulnerable and small when they start school. I hope he gets a nice kind teacher too.

  23. What nice finds at the boot sale. Last Sat I was ata fabric store buying a few more things for a quilt. Its flannel fabric and am making it for a Christmas gift. So I best get to cutting and stitching. Also have calendars to make. Way too much. If I don't make quilt soon grand child will be an adult. If I don't finish by then there's always her spring birthday! Hope Bertie had a good 1st day at school!! Happy weekend my friend.

  28. Hope that your little grand had a great day at school and that his mother made it through. I remember those days and I loved holidays and summer breaks as I loved the children home. I even did homeschooling for a year. Alas, the kids preferred school school. Ha!

What a lot of nice things you found! Always good to have a Plan B in case of changes. My home needs some projects, but after a week of cleaning out the barn, I am ready to collapse for the weekend.

We are having a steady nourishing rain here today across the pond from you.
