A Mamas Pride

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and birthday wishes for my husband and daughter, they were all greatly appreciated.  We certainly packed a lot of activities into the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed each others company.  I am so proud of my daughters in so many ways, I could fill a book with the reasons why.  One thing that I love is how close they all are, they speak to each other and meet up regularly despite the long distances involved.  It is a blessing that their husbands get on as well and that the children have a wonderful relationship with each other also.  Technology plays a huge part in being able to communicate daily but they also pick up bits and pieces and post them to each other.  Saw this and thought of you...  I am immensely proud of my daughters,  I love having them here and sharing their  little families.  I am already working on the menus for the next get together.  I wish I could say that everyone felt the same but...

...the dog was glad to get back into his favourite position.  He is looking a little bit of a mess at the moment and needs grooming, but for now I am letting him have some well earned rest.  Its hard work keeping up with two young boys who want to play tag and expect him to understand the rules.  He does like all the extra treats he gets when the children are here and feed him under the table, but he is not allowed into the lounge when the babies are here so I am sure he is glad they have all gone home.

We will be having  a meal using leftovers today, I have made a chicken, ham and leek pie.  One of my husbands favourites.

All ready to be popped into the oven.  I have already baked a cheese and onion quiche, jam tarts and lemon curd tarts for lunches for the week.  Just need to tackle the ironing and I will be back on top.

Finally I thought I would share the little gift that I made for the babies as favours for the birthday party.  I made them a tag blanket each.  The fabric was so soft and luxurious, it was really gentle for their delicate skin.

They certainly seemed to like them.  Rain has stopped play outside, I did want to cut the grass so I am going to have a couple of hours in the craft room, giving it a good clear out.  There seems to be a lot clutter at the moment.  What have you got planned for the day?

Take care.

  2. You sound like a very close family, as you say, it's lovely when everyone gets on. Poor dog, I think he needs to catch up on his sleep before they all descend on him again. That pie looks delicious, you're making me hungry and it isn't even lunchtime yet.

  3. What a lovely dog.
Your baking looks delicious....one of those jam tarts would go down very well with my coffee I'm just having....lol.
A day in the craft room sounds just the ticket. I will be in the kitchen cutting out more fabric strips. The height of the worktops saves my back a little.
    Have a lovely day-x-

  8. Your blankets look so soft and cuddly. I am surprised that you are not as tired as your dog. All that company can be exhausting. Yet you are baking away and planning on ironing. You are making me tired.

  9. Our dog looks just like that after the grandkids leave! It just wears her out completely. You have so much done already and make me feel lazy today. I have walked a bit, cross-stitched a bit and taken my car in to have the brake lights fixed. That was early this morning. I'm having a sit-down and blog checking for awhile before a doctors appointment this afternoon and a meeting tonight. I think I'll be meeting Hubby somewhere for dinner before the meeting as there won't be time to run home and cook something. I hope your day continues to be wonderful.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. My project for today was to go through my scrapbooking supplies and fill a bag with paper I'll never use etc.. I got it mostly done. Tomorrow I'll work on it again. Once my DH gets back from his visit to his family I will do some baking. Yours looks so scrumptious. Meanwhile I've been trying to diet ( not too successfully I'm afraid).
I do like those cute tag blankies that you made!

  14. We had our 2-year-old granddaughter for 2 nights last week. Our dog was very glad to have the house quiet again and our cat came out of hiding! In just a few more weeks we'll have our second grandson born within 6 weeks of the first so I'll soon have two babies like you! Until I saw your photo holding yours I hadn't thought what it would be like to have two babies so close in age. It will feel like having twin grandbabies! Your blankets are so cute. I've never heard of a "tag" blanket before.

    1. Yes you can, anytime. I nearly always have a few tarts and scones in the tin. I haven't always got cream.

  17. What a great days baking you had! I think that all dogs love to have visitors, but they love it even more when they go home and they can get back to their usual routines and catch up with their naps!

  18. You are making great recovery progress from you good weekend! It is a blessing to have loving family around ...even if wearing for your handsome pet :) We have dripping clouds here today so I plan to bind off the preemie blanket I have been knitting and then crochet an edge around it. Your tab blankets are sweet. xx

  19. Oh my...I would love one of the lemon tarts with a cup of hot tea, perfect. I have never heard of a tag quilt either so will be perusing your old posts since I'm relatively new to your blog, to see if you've ever talked about them before. They look adorable!

  21. The dog looks exhausted! You did a great job of using up leftovers. Every one of those dishes sounds great, and looks delicious. Lemon curd uses so many eggs I never make it but I do really love it.
