Car Boot Treasure

It is so quiet around here, the chitter chatter of the girls and their laughter  is sorely missed.  However, I have managed to get on top of the household tasks which are neglected when we have little visitors.  Today is the day for the garden as long as it stays dry, that too is looked sadly neglected and overgrown with weeds in some areas.  Amazing how quickly the weeds take over.  There is a lot of produce that needs harvesting before it is wasted too.  I certainly need to get on top of all the jobs before the weekend as we have visitors again, Victoria and Wilbur are coming  so once again the house will be filled with love and laughter.

We did have a stroll out over the weekend to Stickney car boot sale, the warmer weather brought lots of people out selling there wares so it was quite the feat walking around it.  We had to stop a couple of times for refreshments.

I got the usual fresh fruit and veg off a couple of allotment owners who sell their surplus.  I was also lucky with craft items bagging a whole load of crochet magazines for £1.  Certainly worth perusing for some new ideas.

I was delighted with a button haul, handmade buttons for 10p each.  I have no idea what I am going to use them for, but still sometimes its just nice to be a little frivolous.

I managed to get some stamps which are both useful for card making and scrapbooking.  50p per set, a real bargain.

I am always on the look out for the children to add to the toy cupboard and was successful with books, a stack of them for 10p each.  A beautiful Melissa and Doug wooden jigsaw for £1 was another great find.

I also found a couple of marble games, which may be a little too old for them as yet but perfect for them to grow into.  My husband and I have fond memories of playing marbles with our own girls when they were small and even of our own childhood.  So it was nice to reflect on some wonderful memories and hope that many more will be in the making.

Finally, I bought a selection of handmade buttons for stitching onto items.  I was thrilled with them and bought all that she had.

I did sneak in a little set of Scottie dog buttons too, just because...

Overall a very successful haul, a lovely couple of hours spent with my Mum and dear husband and so nice to catch up with a couple of friends we hadn't seen in awhile.  How did you fill the weekend?

See you soon.

  17. Sounds like a lot of fun, and you got some great things, especially those buttons. I have fond memories of my son playing with marbles. He'd put together armies of marbles, and battle away for hours! Hope your grandchildren enjoy them.
