I decided that this week I would take you on a little tour of Mamas Mercantile aka the craft room. The purpose of this little tour is to show you five places where I hide the yarn. I am working hard to reduce the stash but to no avail, I have even stopped buying yarn. There has been no yarn purchases since before Christmas. Let me show you around...
The trunk, a rather large piece of furniture which holds vintage magazines, the record player and LPs hides away yards and yards of yarn in every colour and thickness...
I love lifting the lid and searching through for the perfect yarn for a project.
I also have a smaller trunk with just as much yarny goodness.
Some of the yarn in this basket was given as gifts for my Birthday, I have plans for it. I am going to make Autumn/Winter accessories to brighten up my wardrobe.
The merchant chest is filled will lots of craft materials, I love that I can go into the room and everything is at hand to pursue most projects.
Two of the drawers are filled with yarn, one drawer filled with cotton that I use for doilies and some of the thicker cotton for washcloths.
There is always a bag, isn't there????? My bag is filled with yarn that I have sorted out for the next couple of projects.
Hidden away in a corner...
Yarn to crochet some Christmas goodies for friends and family. The red is perfect for the children.
Finally the basket that holds the bobbins of wool, my favourite....
Five wonderful places that I hide my yarn stash. Once again I am joining in with Amy over at love made my home for the five on Friday. Why not pop over and join the fun. Have a wonderful weekend.
See you soon.
I too have little hidey spots all over the house! I would love to have a craft room - one day. I have a friend who has a wool room with wall to ceiling cubby holes. It is like going to a yarn shop at her house! And she has them all colour graded to match the rainbow - swoon!
ReplyDeleteI am on a no new yarn phase at the moment too, as I just have too much. Well, so much; there is no such thing as too much yarn!
I totally agree, you can never have too much yarn.
DeleteHow fun to tour your craft room and see your beautiful yarn stash. You've been doing quite well in not buying any yarn for such a long time :) I have a handful of skeins in a small basket along with a couple of WIPs. Maybe one day I will finish all my projects and have the fun of starting anew. Enjoy your Friday....it's still Thursday night here in California. My best to you.
ReplyDeleteI love your post and your craft room and your yarns ..... Have a lovely and creative weekend !
ReplyDeleteWow, Mam! That is a lot of yarn! I am in a state of storage envy though.
ReplyDeleteThank-you so much for this post - I've just shown it to my husband with a "See - it's not just me". I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has to find places to stash the stash! All the best, Judy.

That's quite a stash. So glad to see that I'm not the only one who has to find places to put it. I'm trying not to buy yarn at the moment and rather to use up what I have - but I'm not hopeful that my resolve will last lol
ReplyDeleteWow! All that wool how fantastic! Have a good week. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are very organised with all your different hiding places - I love the basket with the bobbins in:)

ReplyDeleteLove the wool stash , I am going to start knitting again soon , The only thing that has been putting me off is when i make mistakes either my nan or my mother in law used to sort me out I am going to have to learn to sort my own problems out now , I was wondering do you have any yarn recommendations for budget yarn that is good quality I used to manage a charity shop and we sold cygnet yarns and they were good, I know they sell them on ebay but the postage bumps up the price , Eileen xxx

Good to see I'm not the only one hiding yarn everywhere! ;)
ReplyDeleteI stopped buying any yarn for a couple of years and it did (slowly) have an impact on how much stash I have, but I've recently fallen off the wagon with the purchase of a whole shed-load of acrylic yarn for a crochet blanket. One step forward, two steps back...
I have my yarn all spread around here and there too. Love the trunk. It's like a treasure chest full of treasure. Have a wonderful weekend!

ReplyDeleteI am always on a yarn diet and I have tried very hard to resist .However, a few weeks ago I couldn't help myself. I plan this week to get a box together to give to the charity shop.

As long as you have a place to hide it - you can keep buying it!! You need more hiding spots. :)

ReplyDeleteYou are an orderly person and you have kept all your yarn neatly. Looks like you have many projects coming up with all the yarns.
ReplyDeleteLove your stash and its organization . Your craft room is lovely! I had to empty mine and I never realized I had so much yarn!! Well maybe I did but my husband did it while I was at work.... Oh my!! We were renovating the room. I still can't find a few things as everything is piled into the basement. Drives me bugs! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a good collection of yarn! But it's organized.. bravo! I have a big mess of yarn as my DIL took it out of all my bins and baskets where I had it organized and put it all willy nilly in my old pie safe. I need to re-do it but I'm rather overwhelmed by it. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your hiding places, I have a trunk like yours but keep sheets and pillow slips in there. Thank you for showing us around! Have a lovely weekend x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....I've never SEEN such a wonderfully organized craft room like yours! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't dream of even beginning to describe mine. Not after visiting here.
Beautifully organized. I wish I could say the same for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful (knit-ful) weekend. :-)
I have a one spot with my yarn for now as I've not bought any over a year. I've had a few people give me yarn. I need to stop telling people I like purple as that's what I usually receive!! Yes, you can come visit with a cup of tea....would be nice!!! I drink it often!
ReplyDeleteHi, I found your lovely blog through a comment that you left on mine . . . I love making new blogging friends and just had to pop in and see what you like blogging about. Another thing that I love is seeing into other peoples creative spaces. You young lady, are very organized. I on the other hand try to be, but I still find myself hunting for the little nook or cranny where I stashed one thing or anther:) You may have noticed . . . I am your newest follwer #99. I do hope that you will visit me again and follow me back. It is great to meet you.
ReplyDeleteConnie :)

ReplyDeleteYour craft room is a lot more organised and tidy than mine! I'm meant to be de-cluttering but have just ordered some more wool. I'm going to have to find somewhere to hide mine :)

ReplyDeleteNow that is a yarn stash!!! :D I love those bobbins of yarn as well. There is something about a bobbin filled with yarn that grabs your attention. You certainly have a great spread of colors in your collection. I will look forward to seeing some projects made from that yarn...
ReplyDeleteHugs for now from across the pond,

Thanks for the craft room tour. That is a lot of yarn! I don't think I have quite that much, but I do know I have an awful lot of the doily thread. Too bad I don't make many of them.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of yarn as well. It is supposed to be all organized in one cupboard but spills over to other hiding places. And still I buy more! I can't resist it.
