Baby Makes

Last weekend we heard the exciting news that our daughter Victoria's best friend was expecting her first baby.  She has become a great friend of the family so it was a honour to make some bits and pieces in preparation for the new arrival.  Although not due until the Spring I thought I would make a start and then just got carried away.

Burp clothes and bibs are a must for any new arrival.  The woodland creatures is a fabric that is a long time favourite and can be used for either a girl or boy.

They were backed with footprint flannel for a soft feel.

I then made a tag blankie,  every baby needs something to pull and suck on.

A fleece blanket was made, using a really soft fleece for warmth and comfort.

A storage bag was made using some white fabric embellished with the green and finished with a heart shaped hedgehog.  Always a useful addition to any nursery.

Finally a crochet blanket ready for the pushchair next Autumn embellished with a hedgehog.  A fun make that grew very quickly.

All ready to be packaged up for when my daughter visits so that she can take them to her.  News of a new baby is always wonderful news, I got a real thrill making the things for a precious new arrival for such a lovely couple.  They will all look a little better once I have put the iron over them but I am in the middle of making Christmas sacks so want to finish them before I set the ironing board up.

See you soon.

Spring Madness

Spring is finally in the air...the wall has been re-built,  some progress has been made in the garden both here and down at my parents home and although cold the sun is shining.  Signs of Spring can be seen in the house, with the odd bunny appearing here and there.

There has been one or two sightings of speckled eggs, which are a delight.

The odd tree seems to have sprouted.

Even the dog is curious.  There seems to be eggs appearing all over the house.

I am taking a wild guess but I think Spring is certainly on its way.

Work continues on bandanas for Hector with a couple of Christmas ones made to be put in the gift drawer.

I have also made a start on some bibs for the new baby when she deems to make her arrival.

Finally, my crochet project is a lap blanket for me dear Dad for next Winter using up some of the Arran cakes of loveliness in my stash.

Is the Easter bunny adorning your home or are the Leprechauns still in residence?

See you soon.

What a Week!

I have had a really lovely but busy week, including visits from two of my daughters and their families.  My youngest daughters visit included the makings of an afternoon tea, what's not to enjoy?  The girls just loved the horse rides........

My youngest Grandson was not going to be fobbed off with yoghurt, he soon got rid of that!  Cake  was the order of the day!
I have spent an hour a day on the wedding crochet and that is coming along quite nicely.  I even managed to buy vintage hankies and evening bags as gifts for the bridesmaids from me, when we have our bridesmaids tea.

I have had a wonderful time doing some shabby chic wreaths and bunting to decorate the stall at the spring fairs.  The lace and ribbon was delight to rediscover from my store and does include some vintage lace which is always a delight for me.

I added a few pearls just to give it a finishing touch.  I was really quite pleased with the overall effect, it would be perfect for a shabby chic wedding which seems to be quite popular at the moment.

I also had fun with some fabric brought back from America making little shopping bags, bibs and bandanas.
Finally a little treat for myself, well it was Mothers Day and I am a Mother.  Remember that little bag of vintage treasure sourced on holiday, I have made it into a delightful piece of art using a embroidery ring.  I was thrilled with the outcome, but I will let you judge for yourself.

I am sure it will be a piece that I can look at and smile!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
