Strange Weather

The weather has been strange to say the least, more snow on Sunday.  We awoke to this...

It did snow several times during the day but thankfully didn't stay around for long.  The stove was lit and it was nice to sit together  and chat about holidays that we have been on and places we would like to see.  Its nice to hold on to a few dreams.

The sewing machine has been out and I have made a few bags for the Church doorstep blessings project.  I used the same pattern but made sure each bag was different fabric, doubling up on the fabric for the handles to give them extra strength.  The perfect shopper for when just a few bits are needed.

I also try to use up some of the scraps of fabric that I save, so once again tissue holders were made.

It is nice to have a few projects on the go and keep myself busy.  I have decided that I am going to start gathering some fabric together over the next few months so that I can make a quilt (using the English paper piecing method) over the Winter months.

The seeds have finally been sown and are on almost every window ledge throughout our cosy cottage.  A little later than usual but that may be a good thing with this strange weather that we are having.  Time will tell.

As always I thank you for your visit and for your uplifting comments, I also thank you for visiting my daughters blog www.thatmumtravellife.com I have left the link again in case you missed it on my last post.  She is hoping that travel restrictions will be lifted soon so that the family can get together and plan some more holidays and adventures.  I am hoping for some better weather so that we can get out and about and explore our little Island once again.  I must add I am looking forward to getting my hair cut.  What are you looking forward to?

See you soon.

  1. Haircut, I look like a wild woman and it is driving me nuts. Yes, the weather seems particularly odd this year doesn't it.

  9. Hasn't it been cold lately? I am shivering as I type. I love EPP, it is very relaxing to stitch slowly and by hand. I look forward to seeing your quilt once you got started.

  14. I hope that snow soon melts and warmer weather comes your way. We have not had as many restrictions as many places in the world. I am looking forward to the day when I can take the ferry and go to visit my parents.

  15. Amazing that you're having snow still! It is pretty, though. I've just been out soaking up some sun on the deck and have a window open for fresh air. Your shoppers are a great item for you to make and share! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. We're finally getting some lovely weather and I'm enjoying every minute of it while it lasts. I hope your weather turns to sunshine and warm temperatures soon. It's that time of the year when every window sill holds seedlings. I've put some out under a mini greenhouse ( very makeshift but it works).

  19. Such pretty bags!!! Like you we are under sheet of white. Hopefully this greens thing up a bit and doesn't kill too many buds on my trees.

    God bless.

  20. Hello Lorraine! Your bags are lovely as are the tissue holders. You are very generous with your time and efforts. Lots of places north of here also had snow yesterday. I talked to Uncle Alan, Dennis's uncle this morning in Minnesota and they had several inches last night. It has turned cold again here too and I had to turn the furnace on after having the windows open since I arrived. Spring has sprung, but I think it's confused! :-) Wishing you and Gerard a lovely day tomorrow, full of blessings.

  22. You had more snow than us but I was peeved the other day when every time I went out to do some gardening, it snowed! You put your time to very good use - you must be on automatic pilot having made these bags and tissue holders so many times. They are lovely and will be so gratefully received I am sure.

  23. That looks like a lot of snow! As pretty as it is I hope it turns to warmer weather for you soon and you can begin to enjoy the spring. Such a good idea to use up bits of fabric.Very practical ideas too that will be useful to everyone. I have been cutting my own hair what a disaster. Hopefully I'll be able to get my grand-daughter to help cut the back LOL! keep well Amanda x

  24. I can't wait for a haircut either. My appointment is on 22nd so just over a week to go. I feel so scruffy. We keep having sunshine and then snow flurries here and its very weird 😐 I LOVE the bags Lorraine especially the little blue owls. You are so clever with a needle x

  26. The same here, except it didn't snow but hail ! Your bags are beautiful ! I was allowed to see Mr. G for 5 min on the doorstep of his room for his 80th birthday ! Escorted by 3 nurses !!

  27. The bags are really cute, and look pretty durable. Our warm Spring weather has given way to snow and sleet today. So much for clearing away more garden debris from Winter. I am looking forward to my rose plants being delivered next month for planting. Have a wonderful mid-week! xo

  32. The weather is very strange at the moment, we seem to be getting all four seasons in one day as it turns from sunshine to snow with rain, hail and wind mixed in. I've started English paper piecing, it's the first sewing I've ever done and I'm really enjoying it.

  33. We were told possible snow showers today. It's crazy. I love seeing what projects you are working on. Have a nice week.

  34. The weather is very changeable this time of year. I decided to put back on my wool winter jumper as it's quite chilly. I think you will enjoy an English paper piecing quilt. Have a nice day.

  35. I am shocked at that snow! And that wasn't just a dusting, either! Maybe it means your spring will be extra pretty. The shopping bags you made are so pretty. I love all the different materials you used.

  36. As I looked at the snow outside your window, I glanced out my own and we had the same weather today! Of course, this is short-lived and hopefully spring will return next week. The bags look great and will surely come in handy. I always carry a tote bag when out and about!

  40. I like your bags. I have purchased in the past at sales around here those little tissue holders. So cute. I must say the snow looks so pretty taken through your window. Spring weather would be so nice I am sure since it is Mid April. Strange weather indeed. Happy Sunday, Betsy
