Weekend

We finally saw a little sun which made a huge difference to our mood.  Everything seems a little easier and better when the sun is shining.  The temperatures are still lower than average for this time of year but seeing the sun has certainly lifted our spirits,  We took advantage and got some of our outside jobs done.  I intend to cut the grass on my return from my aerobics class later today.  I rewarded all our hard work on Saturday with a chicken biryani for our supper.  A date night...

Chicken cooked with spring onions and chives from the garden and added to a vegetable rice, served with a vegetable curry also made from scratch and Bombay potatoes with naan bread and papadom.  A tasty treat and an enjoyable few hours drawing up the plans for the vegetable beds.

We finished off with some tasty melon slices to cool us down , there was a little too much heat in the potatoes and we made a silly mistake drinking water.

Scones were made for afternoon tea yesterday, nothing else needed as we had a substantial traditional Sunday lunch roast pork with all the trimmings.

Finally a quiche all ready for lunch today with some salad.  Using up some red pepper and tomatoes that were coming to the end and an onion and a touch of mustard to give it a lift.

Grated cheese and 4 eggs and in no time at all a tasty meal ready.

A simple but hearty meal, using fresh eggs straight from the chicken.  Our girls bring us so much joy, they are a delight to watch.  Their antics are amusing and we are often found looking out of the kitchen window as they perform for us.  Each one having their own personality and traits.  They are a real blessing to us and they reward us with larger than average eggs.

We have six in total but it is an impossibility trying to get a photo of them altogether.  It is amazing how much Mickey, our dog loves to play with them.  Not once has he been tempted to chase them around or bark at them.  All the sheep next door have been sheared, it was a joy to stand and watch the efficiency and professionalism as they were cut.

Surrounded by beauty and by life, always something to look at and admire I truly do feel blessed.  How did you spend your weekend?

I found the Christmas moves on the moves 24 channel.  The rings that I used for the mini Christmas wreaths were in fact curtain rings and are about 2" diameter, hope that helps.

See you soon.

  1. Gorgeous looking food. Glad to see you, like me, simply line your quiche dish then add filling, no blind baking.

  2. Yay for the sun! ☀️ So true that many gray days strung together can lower the spirits. Your meals look and sound delicious, I do hope that you’ll have more tomatoes soon. Tomatoes are a long way from being available in my corner. Everything is about six weeks behind normal.

  3. I wish I could be as industrious in the kitchen like you. I just don't like to cook but I'm a wannabe! Sun at any time is a mood lifter after endless days of rain. Today is rainy but we had such hot and humid weather that I'm glad.

  4. We have been into the little town this morning and all the shop windows have been decorated with sheep and all things associated with them ready for the Sheep Fair this coming Saturday and there will be a sheep shearing demonstration. If the weather is good I may go along and watch that.
Your food looks amazing as always.

  11. I love scones, they don't have them here only in one British shop ! Since I introduced them to my friends they love them too, with sour creme and blueberry jelly ! The poor sheep look naked now, fortunately the sun is not burning too much !

  12. I love making scones. I do like the butterscotch ones.
Cheddar and sage are good too.
The quiche looks soooo good! I must make one like this the way you did. I have used dried tomatoes I dried but never fresh ones like this. Yummy.
I am taking note of the chicken dish also. You have made me hungry.
Good it's cooler where you are than usual because we have had it up to 103 degrees here last week. Today in the high 80's.

  14. I'm so happy you had some sun finally. Our son is in London this week where a friend had a baby boy yesterday. Although I have never met his friend, I'm looking forward to making something for the new baby.
Your meals always look so delicious Lorraine. I get stuck in a "rut" making the same dishes over and over. I plan to get my calendar out and start planning some meals so I can get some variety into our evening meals at least. Since Dennis is still working, breakfast and lunches are reliably the same.
Our weekend was very busy with 4th of July festivities at the lake and then Saturday we spent the entire day at church helping in the kitchen for two dear friends 50th anniversary party. There were several hundred in attendance and we were kept very busy filling the food tables.
Today it is very quiet at the lake and I'm enjoying it immensely.
Wishing you and Gerard a lovely evening my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

I like to plan the garden each season but it is time consumingg.

  36. A GREAT SPELL CASTER (DR. EMU) THAT HELP ME BRING BACK MY EX GIRLFRIEND.
Am so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR. EMU and I emailed him and he replied to me so kindly and helped me get back my lovely relationship that was already gone for two months.
