Before...with Mickey who is never very far away.
...and after, given a new lease of life.
There is still some work needed to be done to the fireplace, we have already sourced the tiles. The stove does need to be serviced and given a good clean out, but we are getting there. Rome was not built in a day...I sure wish it was at times. Although in fairness, I am enjoying the process of making this little cottage our home one step at a time.
I have been missing our old garden a little, particularly the produce for the kitchen. We have got plans to grow a few bits once we have the outbuildings done but it won't be this season. We did pick up a couple of bunches of Sweet William to add a bit of colour to our little cottage and to inspire us with our list making for what we want in our new garden.
Time is flying by so quickly, we are already into June and Summer is very soon upon us which brings lots of outdoor projects needed to be done. The little wall needs painting, the gate repairing, the exterior of the cottage painting...the list goes on and on. This little cottage which we now call home is definitely where my heart is. Where does your heart belong, have you found your little piece of heaven?
See you soon.
What beautiful changes you are making. I particularly like the fabric you chose for your lounge curtains etc.
ReplyDeleteIt's all looking lovely and I can see you're making the cottage your own. What a great find that bell was, it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love your rag wreaths, they look so pretty. Beautiful fabric for your curtains, throw and runner xx
ReplyDeleteThe wreath is so pretty! I love the pale, peaceful colors. Doesn't it just take time to get a place right? You are doing such a fabulous job. It looks very cozy to me! :) xo Lynn
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love that chair, and the whole ambiance is heartwarming.
ReplyDeleteYou are making it your home and it is looking beautiful. The finishing touches to the porch area have made it so welcoming. X
ReplyDeleteYou made that chair look like new! I love the muted colors you chose. I can see why you are feeling at home. It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteWe too are turning our new house into a home!!
ReplyDeleteLove what you have done so far. Especially the bell. Great find
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful homey touches you have made. I really like how you renewed that chair. The fabric you are using is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking gorgeous MM and the bell is amazing! Beautiful wreaths too. It's lovely to know you are settled. We are still looking for our 'forever home' and it's not at all promising. We can't find anywhere quiet that's cheap enough to afford. Think we'll have to hope the premium bonds come up ;)
ReplyDeleteYour home really is looking like a home. I love all the little touches you are adding and always look forward to seeing the progress you are making. The chair looks so much better doesn't it?! It has given me some ideas for a couple of old chairs we have...
ReplyDeleteSuch a peaceful place, to touch each piece and create something is how we turn our buildings into homes. I love your choice of colors along with your sewing skills, everything is beautiful. My little piece of heaven is outside and quiet, anywhere at anytime. Continue with your creativity, I can feel the love!
ReplyDeleteIt's all coming along nicely isn't it. Great fun and early days too. No rush. 😊
ReplyDeleteI love this post. Oh, how I would love to sit and have a cup of tea with you in your cozy cottage. The little touches you are making are what definitely makes a home. Our home is cozy, but we are thinking of leaving it. It is just too big for the two of us and I can't keep up with it. In fact, I just toured a little trailer home this morning. It would need so much work that I'm not sure I'm up to the task. We shall see. Hubby is going to look at it tonight. Thank you for taking us along on your tour. I'm enjoying every single photo that you post.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Totally love how your chair turned out - such a transformation!
ReplyDeleteYour new home is looking really homely :)

I love how you are so happy! I hope your Mr gets much needed relief with a new therapy protocol, I think of him often. I feel lucky that my aches and pains are manageable.
ReplyDeleteHome is home where ever I am living. I love this house but could easily love any house.
You did a lovely job on the chair it looks so pretty now:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're settling in! Your home does look very cosy.
ReplyDeleteWith each new project you are making your home more to suit your tastes. Although I'm sure it's a LOT of work it must also be rewarding.
ReplyDeleteWe built our house almost 40 years ago and I was too busy raising a young family ( plus we were perpetually short of money) so our house started out very plain. Through the years we've made changes including building on rooms ( at different levels) to make it more like a genuinely old house. It suits us perfectly.
You have been so busy and getting so many things done in the time you have been in your cottage. I love the color of your curtains and table runner. Sweet William is a favorite of mine and have finished blooming now. Can always count on those flowers for color in early Spring.

You are making wonderful progress in settling in, and I am so glad you are "home." Your use of the checked material is lovely and practical. I am enjoying our home, too, and it is exciting to see what is happy to grow in our gardens...except for the weeds 😐
ReplyDeleteI've seen your name from time to time and wanted to visit. It's so cozy here and I'm glad I did. Your chair redo is really nice. The fabric is pretty with the white. And your wreath is so pretty and unique with the burlap bow. Have a nice weekend. ♥
ReplyDeleteI am so glad yo have found the perfect place to live, making it your own is so much fun. I love seeing all you have done. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteLove that fresh look to the chair....gorgeous spring colours. What I do love though is that bell!!! Wow! a great find!

Oh my goodness...
ReplyDeleteIt is just beautiful!
I am enjoying living vicariously through you on this amazing journey!
You are doing a great job! You are transforming your cottage into a beautiful home. You are really good and talented. Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteIt is looking very homely in your little cottage! Love the soft colours, a great contrast to the landscape your cottage is surrounded by. It is lovely to see you settle in so well. x
ReplyDeleteAll of your little touches are just so lovely. It's so funny that you should ask that question about finding our touch of heaven. Just this week, I've begun to notice just how peaceful I've been feeling when I walk thru our front door. I missed our little cottage that we moved from for quite a while but I feel so connected with our new home now. With all of the horrible things going on in this world, I feel safe and at ease and like I'm where I'm supposed to be now. I'm so happy you and your honey feel the same way too!! xo

ReplyDeleteLove the yellow and lime green - refreshing.
