Five on Friday

The weather has been glorious this week, extremely cold in the morning and evening but really beautiful afternoons.  Consequently, I have spent the afternoons in the garden finishing off all the jobs  to prepare the garden for its long sleep of the winter.  Cutting back hedges and shrubs and giving the lawn a good cut, sowing seed in the patches that our naughty dog constantly digs up.

The mornings have been spent in the craft room, having a really good sort out and working on projects.  This is the area for which I want to share my five on Friday.  Five crafting moments that I want to enjoy looking back on.

Number one is the sorting out of the yarn, a mammoth task.  There are so many charities looking for oddments that I decided to have a sort out.  I have sorted some of the yarn into specific projects bags that I am working on, reorganised the chest and bagged up loads of oddments to be given to an old peoples home locally who are knitting for the homeless.

Number two is pattern selection.  I have sat and browsed past crochet magazines and pattern books and have now made a list and ear marked some of the projects I want to do as gifts for the new babies.  Decisions, decisions... There is of course some little gifts that need to be made to be sent to Santa too.

Thirdly I want to share a couple of projects that I have finished this week.  My lounge room needs a little up lifting so I have made a start and completed a cushion cover.  I love the colour of the yarn, a real Autumnal look and the vintage button is the perfect finish.

I have also completed a blanket for the nursery that fits in with the theme of teddy bears, already for the new babies to visit.

Whilst sorting out all the yarn in the craft room I came across an abandoned project from a couple of years ago.  So my fourth crafting moment of the week is that I have decided that this will become my winter project.  The project that I work on through out the winter.  A throw/blanket for the lounge.

Finally I have been working on some little gifts to take with me to Florida.  We have many friends that we have made over the years and love to meet up with them.  A little gift is always greatly appreciated.  Biscuits are a must and little something that I have made.

I had a pile of toppers made so simply added them to some notelets and tied them with raffia for a professional finish.

Well I had to embellish a pen to go with them, the perfect combination.  Only another five sets to go.

Five things on Friday from my craft room.  I am once again joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the weekly meme, pop on over and join in the fun.

As always thank you so much for your comments on my previous post, I love to hear from you and am always humbled by such positive and enthusiastic comments.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  I have my eldest daughter and her little family visiting this weekend so I am busy getting things ready for Wilbur.

See you soon.

  3. Oh, you are such a smart lady. How did you ever learn to make so many beautiful things? When I look at your post, I think, I am going to find someone to teach me to crochet. But, I could never make the beautiful thing that you make.

  7. I loved this post so much! The purse is awesome, and so is the baby blanket! Love the granny squares and how great you donated some yarn to people who crochet and knit for the homeless! Doing things with yarn (and quilting too) are always such wonderful fall and winter projects, I think. Yours are lovely! Thanks for sharing them!

  21. I was looking at the yarn selection at a store today. Nearly bought some but decided against it. I have so many projects to work on now! Your bear afghan is so cute! I'm staying home this weekend. We're having over night guests on Sat., friends of our daughter. They are moving back to OR and need to spend a night somewhere and thankfully we have a sleeper sofa they can use. I need to wash up sheets for it. Have a fun and happy weekend with your family! Aw, grandchildren!

  26. I recently gathered five bags of yarn to donate, I felt so much lighter giving it all away. Not that I still don't have plenty, it was just nice to really think about what I will use and what others might need. Love your crochet.
