Unfinished Projects

My goodness I can't believe how long it has been since my last post.  It certainly wasn't intentional, time has certainly been flying by but (there is always a but...) every time I went to the computer to sit down and do a post there was no internet.  This is my third attempt and YES this time I am saving it so I can just press publish if I fail to complete yet again.  We have been hit quite badly with strong winds and rain but thankfully no severe damage.  Our outbuilding lost a window, the whole frame was blown out it has been boarded up as a temporary measure until the weather picks up and it can be repaired properly.  There are areas of the garden that are flooded but the water doesn't stay for long we have a wonderful drainage system that is quite effective.  We feel blessed and very thankful for our cottage and the warmth and shelter it provides.

There has been a lot of soup these past few weeks, wholesome and nourishing (here comes another but)  but I am a little fed up with it so I intend to have an afternoon cooking up some meals for the freezer.  A chicken curry is on the top of the agenda, along with bolognese sauce.  Much depends on what ingredients  I have available.  I do like to have some meals ready for when I have been to the hospital.  I continue to do well with the increase of medication, although still a little breathless at times.  Medication is reviewed weekly so I have no concerns.  We are very grateful for the wonderful NHS we have here on the Island, I do know it can be a post code lottery at times.  My next ct scan is a week on Monday so I am hoping that a plan of action is forthcoming with regard to the lung nodules.

I have so many projects at the moment that are languishing in a basket unfinished.  I am hoping that if I make a record of them that it will stir me into action and that I will get some finished.  Sounds like a good plan here's hoping it will be effective.

First up is a quilted table runner that I wanted for a gift for Christmas, I would like to get it finished so that it can be used for this year.

The boys coats are unfinished so it would be nice to get them done all ready for Spring.  I love the lining fabric that I used and am happy with the overall effect with the tweed.  I think I may cover some buttons with the lining fabric to see how that looks.  I have got some duffle coat toggles if I don't like the effect.

As a priority there are trousers to alter...

A table runner and a lavender filled heart need to be completed for the lounge.

Finally the only crochet project outstanding is Honeys blanket which has been slow going.  Now that I am feeling so much better I am confident that I will have it finished soon.

Have you lots of projects that are left unfinished?  I am usually pretty good at finishing things off so not usual for me to have so many projects left languishing.

Once again thank you so much for your comments, emails gifts, cards and prayers you have certainly made me feel so much better.   I have been a little slow with my visits and have not always left a comment but I do get around to you all eventually.

See you soon.

  1. Very happy to hear you are feeling better! Your list of projects and description of the weather seem a match for each other - cozying up inside with a project sounds wonderful.

  2. It's good to know you haven't blown away in the recent gales.
I know what you mean about soup. It is delicious but often I feel like I need something more. Baked potatoes are a good compromise as a simple meal.
I have a small blanket on the go at the moment which I hope to complete this weekend. Your makes look wonderful. I am always in awe at your sewing ability. X

  3. Glad to hear your medication is working well for you.

I couldn't agree more about soup, I don't mind it but sometimes I just don't want to make or eat it, I think I've made more comments about not wanting soup on my blog than any other topic!

  4. Soup is delicious...in small quantities!

  5. Sometimes....as lovely as homemade soup is....you just need something a bit more substantial don't you? The chicken curry and bolognese sauce sound like just the thing.
You are not on your own with unfinished projects. I have a box full of quilts as various stages of unfinishedness but I am right off machine sewing at the moment and am enjoying some very relaxing cross stitch..
So glad you have good NHS service and that they are keeping an eye on you.
    Hugs-x-

  6. I must admit that we're not big soup eaters, I enjoy it occasionally but it's not something which is on the menu often. You have some lovely projects on the go, which I'm sure will be finished in no time now you're feeling a little better. Fingers crossed that a plan of action will be put in place very soon.

  8. Glad to hear you are on the mend and that the medication seems to be helping. Very good that it is reviewed on a weekly basis. I hope your health continues to improve and that the CT Scan goes well.

Lots of lovely projects in progress there. I have a few, but have had to pack them away as guess what?! Yes we are finally moving! I can't quite believe it. Of course I've just come down with the dreaded lurgy which I could have done without so the last three days have not been very productive in the packing way, so this coming week is going to be mass panic I think.

  11. Oh Lorraine, it's so good to see you post today. I'm glad you're feeling better and have your medications reviewed often. It takes SO long to get doctors appointments here and we pay SO much for medical care that it gets frustrating. My so called "emergency" appointment with the cardiologist isn't until Tuesday and it was made a week and a half ago. If I was having a real issue, it would be too late!
We like soup but not very often. They have to be thick and hearty ones too. :-)
You have so many beautiful projects going. I know the coats will be so appreciated and I love the idea of covering the buttons with fabric, but toggles work well too so it's good to have that as a back-up. Honey's will adore her blanket, made with so much love.
Take care my dear friend. We're keeping you and Gerard in our prayers.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better and that the medication is working. We like soup a lot, too, but there does come that point when something else appeals. Your projects are wonderful; I'm so impressed with those coats!
Your cozy cottage is full of warmth, love, and lots of fun projects! Hope you get some completed. It's such a great feeling, isn't it? (Says she who has many unfinished projects, as well)

  16. That's a pretty blanket. I have a few unfinished projects right now. I am re-knitting an alpaca blanket, need to finish a second sock, and have a pair of gloves going, too. Glad you are on the mend.

  17. Good news that you're doing better. You certainly are not lacking in projects to complete; I like the fabric you've chosen as lining in the boys' coats and the table runner and heart will be perfect for February.
Sorry about the damage the storms have caused. Hopefully more pleasant weather will be on the horizon.

  24. Glad to read that you are feeling better. May this continue going forward.

I actually have more planned projects than unfinished ones for a change. Pretty soon it will be the opposite though.

Stay safe and warm from the nasty weather.

    God bless.

  26. You are not alone with unfinished projects, Lorraine, as it seems we all have our own, including me. One of my intentions (not resolution) this year is to tend to items ASAP and not let them sit, like answering emails, reading a magazine before the next one arrives, etc. So far, I have been doing fairly well and also added in getting rid of at least 1 item when another is brought in, but getting rid of 2 is better. Glad to read you are feeling better and hope the test results will be good when completed. Thanks for taking the time for a recent visit to our blog as well.

  35. Escape to the Country is on my TV as I type to you, Lorraine, and it helps me feel closer to you even if we are across the pond from each other 😊 I am glad you are cozy, have good health care and are feeling a bit better, but I am sorry you lost a window due to the wind! You have some interesting projects lined up and I hope you enjoy some creative time on them in the days ahead. I have brought out a merino wool blanket I started years ago and have completed five more rows on it this past week. It is big enough to help to warm me in our wintery weather as I knit.
It is pouring rain at the moment! ❤️🙏

  43. You have a lot of projects ! I am quite affected by this wet and windy weather and always grey sky, it takes all my energy ! On top I suffer from asthma attacks so I know very well how you feel when breathless ! It's really a bad time of the year. I try my best to distract myself otherwise I would fall into a deep black hole. Your exhibition looks very interesting !

This is the happiest moment of my life having no longer to worry about paying bills as i have been settled for life. A lot has been said about atm hacking and blank card for cash withdrawal but it all seemed like a myth to me until i eventually lost my job few months back and the world seemed to be moving backwards. I went online in search of jobs and means to an end and there i found comments about blankatmdeliveryxpress and how they deliver this card in less than 7 days with no risk involved and a far much lesser price compared to what the card itself can give you, i then made contact and purchase one from them with almost my last dollars I took the risk and in exactly 6 days latter my card and a manual was delivered to my home address here in California and that same evening i used the card was able to take out $5000 for a start its been just 3 weeks and my life has taken a new shape. I simply want to say thank you to this electronic company and help spread their fame abroad. If you ever are in need of this card contact them via email :blankatmdeliveryxpress@gmail.com

Am so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR.
