Surrounded by Beauty

Where on earth did January go?  Already we are well into February, time seems to be flying by.  33 years ago yesterday I was in a British Military Hospital in  Germany giving birth to our middle daughter Amie, what a joy she brings to our lives.  How times have changed, back then I had to stay in hospital a week after giving birth.

Saturday we awoke to bright blue skies and white fluffy clouds so we decided to go out for a short drive and have a walk along the coastline.  Wrap up well and come along with us, make sure you have gloves/mittens on as the wind is biting.

Buckle up and off we go, first stop Europie.  You can just see the beach from the road by the park.

The ground is still frozen and along the edge of the road you can still see hailstones from a recent downpour.

Back into the car and on to our favourite cove, parking wasn't an issue as we were the only ones about.

The little streams of water still running although frozen at the sides.   Here and there remnants of the downpour of hailstones could be seen.

The breathtaking beauty of this cove always takes my breath away and brings backs some lovely memories of our Grandchildren enjoying this little beach.

The shadows here and there making taking the photographs a little more challenging.

Back into the car for a few seconds until we reach the Butt of Lewis, the most North Westerly point of the UK I believe.  A beautiful lighthouse also stands proudly there, if only it could talk.  I am betting it would have many a tale to tell.

The wind whipped around and it really was quite cold and yet exhilarating to be out in the fresh air.  It was a delight to have a wander, although we were careful not go to close to the edge.

Back home to a mug of hot chocolate and thankfully the cottage is warm and cosy.  Come on in and make yourself at home.  I hope you enjoyed our little tour.

As always I thank you for your visit here and your comments.

See you soon.

  1. It was a lovely trip, thank you for taking us along. Breathtaking views, if you had the "desired" weather you would have wall to wall visitors in the summer. That would spoil it though, it is the main reason that I chose an untouristy part of Wales to move to. I have the mountains and valleys, lots of footpaths to explore but very few visitors. Selfish, probably but we do get through traffic and tourists some as near as Llandeilo and Brecon en masse.

  2. A lovely bright day for your walk but it still looks very cold. Nice to have a warm cosy cottage to come home to.

  3. I had a good look at your beautiful photos. This is the kind of coastline I like, wild and rugged. Our is very flat and calm. Even in rough weather we don't get waves; further up the coast in Blackpool and beyond we do, but here it's to flat for waves. I love being by the sea. I love a walk in the bracing air to blow away the doldrums and clear the mind. Thank you for taking me on your little drive along the coast. Best, Jane xx

  4. Love this rocky coastline and what a beautiful day with that clear blue sky. I love these water pictures. I wished I lived closer to the beach. We are going for a few days to the beach for our anniversary this weekend. It's cold but nothing beats the sounds of crashing waves at the shore this time of year, plus it's not crowded at all.

  6. Such gorgeous views. I know how fortunate you must feel to be surrounded by all that beauty. We love the winter beach here, partly because we often have it all to ourselves! A bit selfish i guess.

  22. Well, that's blown the cobwebs away - wonderful! I've just caught up with all your January posts, your Christmas travellings look wonderful, all of them, but especially Efteling. I like your crochet projects too, the colours are lovely and just shout "Scotland" to me. I'm looking forward to seeing Bertie's blanket complete with border. (And I haven't forgotten about your parcel.) x

  24. Oh what a nice drive you took us on. My big question is.. the neat stone building on the cliff above your favorite cove.. is it inhabited? Can you imagine their view.. and their wind? Sending hugs your way. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
