Crochet Blankets

Drum roll please...

Bertie's blanket is finished.  It has taken awhile to crochet but it is filled with love and all ready for when he visits in April.

Two rows of dc
One row of tr
Two rows of dc   forms the pattern throughout.

A border added to give added interest and neaten it all off.

Rolled and tied off with a ribbon and a wooden handmade button added.

Now a start has been made on Honey's, a few rows each evening will soon make it grow.  I am hoping to have it ready before she visits.  I would like them to have their gift together.

I have sorted out the yarn that I want to use, it may need a little more pink adding to the mix.  Time will tell.

We had planned to go for a drive this morning but unfortunately the boiler has sprung a leak so we have no heat or hot water.  We have lit the stove so at least one room is warm.  We are now waiting for the plumber.  We are hoping it can be repaired but feel we may have to invest in a new one.

From the kitchen this week, basil oil and mixed herb oil.

Chicken casserole is on the menu for this evening with some green beans and broccoli.  Yummy!  I plan to do a roast pork dinner with stuffing and all the trimmings for tomorrow.  Do you still have a Sunday roast?  It seems quite an old fashioned thing these days...

As always I thank you for your visit and your comments.

See you soon.

  2. I love a good roast but don’t often cook them. Sausages for us tomorrow and the roast beef leftovers from a while back for tea tonight.

  6. Your blankets will be lovely gifts. It inspires me to at least think about finishing a crocheted scarf I am making. I don't really do a roast on Sunday's anymore, but on occasion I might think to do one or maybe just something a little special.

  8. Lovely works of love!!!

A Sunday Roast sounds like a wonderful idea. They knew what they were doing, back-when this was always done. :-) Everyone can look forward to a special Sunday meal. And there will be left overs for less work involved meals, later in the week.

I love a Sunday Roast, but when we are busy at the car boots I don't often feel like doing it so do one in the week. x

  12. lovely blankets, I went stash diving this morning to pick the colours for a new one. I often make a roast dinner,it is an easy meal. Oven on, bung it in, make gravy while the Yorkies bake, any day of the week can be roast day here.

  13. Oh my! I hope that you don't have to put out a lot of money for a new boiler. And it's no fun not having heat or hot water in cold weather.

The blanket is wonderful. Bertie is going to love it and he will think of you when he is warm and cozy beneath it. Honey's will be fabulous as well. I like the touches of pink.

  15. The blanket is so cozy and I love the colours. I hope your boiler is sorted soon. That is not fun. I don't very often do what I call a full roast with yorkshires but we do have a simple roast on Sundays usually.

  16. No doubt both Bertie and Honey will love their cozy blankets!
I was wondering if the herb infused oils can be used just like regular oils ( for browning in the frying pan )? I'll check back here to see your response.

  19. Such a beautiful blanket! I know what work went into that! I hope you do not have to invest in a new water heater. Ours went out a few months ago and what a shock at what a new one costs these days! Your Sunday dinner sounds wonderful..........roast or roasted chicken is still an every Sunday occurance for us!

  23. Your blanket looks beautiful a bit similar (other colours) as the one I got from a friend for Christmas ! That's annoying not to have heating and hot water !
We would have an open fire, but no wood anymore too heavy to carry for us from the basement to the living room.

  24. My feelings of delight at your beautiful blanket colour choices we soon swayed by the bad news that you are without hot water or heating! My neck of the woods isn't half as cold as yours and I got cross the other day because gusty weather blew out our hot water pilot light which meant I had to get down on my hands and knees to try and light it again with a temperamental ignition switch. Right on dinner time it was too but had to do it before it got dark outside.
Your predicament certainly puts my 'inconvenience' into perspective. I hope the weather allows you to get out and fix your heating woes. Shame I couldn't bag up the heatwave we had and send it on to you to open up in your living room and spread its warmth!
Do you think you might need to unroll that finished blanket and use it yourself? It is a beautiful blanket. I just love the colours and your beautiful finishing. I do like a decent border on a blanket.

    Good luck!

  33. You must be looking forward to that family visit in April. A great choice for the yarn re. the two blankets. I hope you can get the boiler fixed and advice from your plumber about whether to get a new one. In the meantime, keep warm. At least you have the stove and warming meals will be good for you both. Wishing you a good week.

  34. Gorgeous blankets and an easy pattern too. I am sure they will be received with delight.

I must make up some herb oils again - quilt making has taken over my life so far this year and kitchen projects have fallen by the wayside a bit.

    Keep warm.
