Our journey started three weeks ago on a very wet, dreary and stormy morning. We sailed from Tarbert on the Isle of Harris in gale force 5/6 which made for quite an uncomfortable journey. Sadly it didn't improve once we reached Uig on the Isle of Skye, the rain and driving winds continued. The dark skies and heavy clouds made for some stunning photos. We did have a drive around the Island and manage to capture some of the beautiful scenery. Another beautiful Island.
We did have a couple of bright moments and a glimpse of the sun but sadly they didn't last for long.
...we did wonder if he really was grumpy! We were slightly bemused looking for a causeway to cross to the mainland which turned out to be a bridge and certainly a lot shorter than anticipated. The journey through Scotland was a joy marred slightly by the awful weather but the views were incredible. We stopped for a picnic at Ballachulish Marine and enjoyed the breathtaking sights from the car.
The weather certainly dominated our journey but didn't detract from the incredible views and amazing skies that were a delight, despite it slowing us down.
We have spent quality time with our beautiful daughters and their little families. How those Grandchildren of ours have grown in such a short period of time. We certainly had lots of little adventures together, I have so much to share but will save it for another day. We have Lucy our youngest daughter and her little family arriving tomorrow, they are having a wonderful time in Aviemore at the moment. I thank you for your patience as I try to catch up with everyone, it may take awhile. I also thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
See you soon.
I wondered where you had got to, I am so glad you had some time with your precious family, and how lovely you feel that your new house is now home. x
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you spent time with your loved ones!
And that your new sweet cottage is now your forever home. : )
I was wondering how the last few weeks had been treating you.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy your rough ferry crossing. You must be made of strong stuff. It sounds as if the time spent with your family more than made up for it, however, and I'm looking forward to reading more. X
Lovely to hear you have been visiting your family. It sounds like you have had a really nice time. The weather has certainly been atrocious though hasn't it?!

So very glad to have you home. What a lovely adventure and great photos. I just long to visit your part of the world. I don't think that will ever happen but it is a joy to see all your photos and read about the places you visit. Hugs...and welcome home!
ReplyDeleteOn my mom and dads side is scottish ancestry. I am glad you are showing some pictures from there as I probably will never see it first hand, but who know's anything can change. At least I see it here.

What wonderful scenery, spending time with family is precious and more so now that you are far away. A lovely trip despite the weather, but there is no place like home isn't there!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy reading your posts about your new life and seeing your photos from your trip. I was struck by what you say about the ferry crossing - I've only been on a slightly bumpy crossing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland -do you usually take some anti sea sickness pills? I do admire you and your husband for following your dreams to your new life.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to tour, even if a bit drear with the rain and all. I have a friend who lives in Scotland, and she enjoys coming back to the states when she can. Isn't it funny how we always wish we could see another part of this world, when we are usually perfectly happy in the spot we have settled on? Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteThe weather made for a nasty ferry ride, but it sure lends itself to dramatic photos. Loved all of them, but especially the last one. You framed it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI also loved the little building in the side of a hill. Whenever I travel, I'm fascinated by the way people use whatever is at hand to make buildings, walls, and walkways.
