Five On Friday

Last weekend was the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch here in the UK, where you counted birds that appeared in your garden for an hour.  Life got in the way and I was unable to participate.  I had however been preparing for the count and had been watching the garden.  There are many visitors to the field and fence behind my house but not as many as I thought to the actual garden.  They are so quick but I did have fun trying to get photos of them.  The quality of the photos are not good but here are five regulars to the fence.

I am once again joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the Five on Friday get together, pop over and join in the fun.

See you soon.

  3. Bird photography is never easy, they seem to have a habit of flying off or turning their backs on you as soon as you point the camera at them don't they. xx

  4. Oh you got a picture of a Jenny Wren. How beautiful.
I am just watching the antics of the birds in my neighbours weeping tree. I don't know what they are finding to eat in there as it has no leaves or berries of any kind on it.
    Have a lovely weekend-x-

  5. You did well to catch such lovely photos. I've tried but I'm never quick enough. We used to do the big garden birdwatch when the girls were younger. These days we seem to get more Magpies than anything else. I don't think I've seen a sparrow for years.

  6. It's good you were able to capture them, I find it hard to take good bird photographs they just won't stand still long enough. Have a great weekend. :)

  10. They are hard to capture aren't they? You have some great shots. We did the count but didn't have as many birds as we usually do because of the weather:)

  12. The first bird looks a lot like our little Carolina Wren...one of my favorite birds. All these birds are interesting. One looks like a hawk??

  13. Isn't it wonderful having birds visit the backyard? Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

  14. I recognize some of them...the seagull and the hawk. You have a lot of birding opportunities at your home.

  15. Wonderful. My eldest did it too, he does every year, it's good to see what changes there are every time. This year we saw a couple of long-tailed tits which was nice. Lovely to see your wren as well, one of my favourites. CJ xx

  21. It's good to see the birds. It's been miserable weather for them here. My photos are really hazy as we were having heavy showers of sleet on the day I chose to do the hour's count and I took them from indoors.

  23. What a lovely shot of the Wren, my Wrens bob in between the plant pots and into the hedge you have to be so quick to see them.

  24. I loved seeing your bird photos. You have inspired me to maybe take up bird watching. This week while walking my grandson to school, we spied some lovely little birds but I didn't know the names. Have a great weekend, Pat xx

  25. Great pic we took part and counted lots of birds in the Summerhouse garden, you just reminded me I was going to blog about it, but my foggy brain got in the way.

  26. Oh I forgot to take part. We saw a beautiful Robin close up on Saturday, he was amazing, but by the time I got my camera out, Jack had bounded up and scared him doh! Your pictures are great and you get such a variety too. Have a lively weekend xx

  29. Love that you have all these visitors! I keep thinking we need a bird feeder in our yard. I love taking photos of birds, but they definitely can be challenging! Happy Friday! Have a great weekend :)

  30. Such nice pics. Your bird watch is only an hour. Is it any hour of that day ou a certain hour. Here in Oklahoma USA ours was a 2 day count. I tried but my eyes at the time were pretty bad and couldn't tell some of them apart.

    1. It was over the weekend of 30/31 Jan, recording the highest number of each type of bird that you saw at the same time land in the garden over a period of one hour.

  31. Some of your birds look like mine! Gosh, they truly are hard to photograph... I never seem to have the right camera when they are around.

  32. Some ordinary and, for me, extraordinary birds. Lovely. I find it hard to photograph birds, the zoom on my camera is not good enough.

  33. I completely forgot about this last weekend - I try to take part most years! Xxx

  34. I missed the bird counting, too. There would have been not many birds out last weekend, it was very stormy and miserable. Have a lovely weekend. x

  35. That's quite an assortment of visitors you've got there. I think we'd be restricted to pigeons (fat ones too), robins and if we were lucky the tits might be out. Have a lovely weekend

  36. I didn't get round to taking part this year, but I usually do. I'm a big fan of watching the birds in the garden anyway, all the food we put out for them costs us a fortune, greedy things. How lovely that you get wrens visiting, I've only ever seen one in our garden on one occasion.

  37. You've got some lovely regular (feathered) visitors. My favourite is the first one- small but looks cute! Happy weekend!

  38. This is a lovely idea, I've not heard of it. And how nice for you to have such friendly guests.

  39. It's fun seeing the regular avian visitors to your garden even if you didn't get to participate in the bird count. The fat pigeon (?) with the blueish head is very pretty. I hope you're having a good weekend.
