Five on Friday

I am late posting today, I have had a very busy couple of days.  My five on Friday post is five of my favourite baskets.  I love baskets and am a great fan of the many styles and uses of a basket.  I would love to be able to make my own and have looked at courses at one time or another, but the time was never right.  Maybe one day.....

My favourite of all time basket is an old picnic basket that I have had for years.  It holds so many memories of picnics long gone and of the family travelling Europe.  Nowadays it holds precious cargo, my yarn cones.  I look at it often and conjure up bygone days.

My second basket is another old picnic basket, that has never seen a picnic since I have had it.  I use it for storage.  It is currently in the craft room been used to store fabric.  It doesn't hold the same memories but I love the leather straps and the ease that it opens and shuts.

A Basket that is lined is my number three choice, that again is used for storage, I store fabric that is going to be used in current projects to save me keep getting up and down.  It is the perfect shape and reminds me of one that I had similar when I was a young girl, taking my cooking ingredients to school.  It also had a plastic cover in bright red.  Some lovely memories.

I have a beautiful sewing basket that my daughter bought me one Christmas that I love, it takes pride of place in my craft room and is used on a daily basis.

Finally, basket number five is a basket that I keep at the bottom of the stairs a habit I fell into when my girls were small.  Anything that needed to be taken upstairs was thrown into the basket and then I would empty it out on a daily basis.  These days it usually my things that are thrown into it and it is emptied out weekly.

My five on Friday, five things that I have enjoyed sharing with you.  I am once again joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the weekly get together.  Pop over and enjoy the weekly meme.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  I am heading up to my daughters over the weekend to help out with the girls next week, so I will catch up with everyone on my return.

See you soon.

  18. I too love baskets!!! I have a collection of 'flat' baskets that I prop on my walls to cover the light/power sockets. LOL....It's a decorative touch and hides those ugly pieces of plastic with the sockets.

I think my favorite basket you share is your sewing basket with the decorative top.

  19. I love all your beautiful baskets! Baskets are fun, useful and often very lovely. I have several I really enjoy as well...one very similar to the one of yours that reminds you of one you had as a child. Mine in that shape had belonged to my grandmother.

  20. Lovely baskets! I love baskets too I have one which I like to put my latest crafting project in, I really need dozens because I have that many projects haha, I used to love taking a basket to school on cookery day with a cover over the top to hide all the goodies, I wonder what happened to it. Have a great weekend. :)

  21. What lovely baskets!!! I too had a stairs basket when the kids were growing up - it sometimes had to be emptied several times a day, but when someone went upstairs they just took the basket with them. Now we have no stairs - and our kids have families of their own - but I still have the basket. Living here in the Pacific Northwest where are winters are quite damp I find baskets will become moldy much too often - so I spray all of my baskets with a non-glossy clear spray - doesn't change their appearance and dust brushes off easier - no mold. I like that you keep fabrics and projects in your baskets too.

  26. I also love baskets. I put wires on one, the dog's clothes under a chair, threads on the other, and so on. I think it is beautiful and very organized.

  30. Great basket collection! I like the idea of keeping one at the bottom of the stairs for things that need to be taken up - wonder if my kids would actually put anything in it? they have a dirty laundry basket in their room and they leave all the dirty washing right next to it!!!!

  31. I currently have baskets holding magazines, dog toys, Megan's little art supplies, books and toiletries in my bedroom. I used to be a huge collector of baskets and picked up my best ones at yard sales. At the last sale I had at my home I donated all of them that didn't sell to our local Salvation Army. Still have a lot of them but have pared down to just the ones that I love. : ) I hope you have a wonderful week!! xoxo
